2/26/23 Update: Funagain has said they’ll begin fulfillment this week. The likely start date is 3/2. We’ll let you know when we get tracking information or further details.
This is a repost of the most recent Kickstarter update.
Backers and preorderers: thank you for your patience as we await fulfillment. We recognize that you’re eager to get your games. We’re also eager. I personally feel like a dog wanting to go for a walk, but my human is at the computer for mysterious reasons. I have the leash, I’m whining at the door, but they’re not getting up. Why can’t we go now?
Metaphors aside, we’re still waiting for the games to clear customs. This piece of bureaucracy is both frustrating and opaque. Everything is set up for the next step: all the addresses are organized and the art books are done and delivered to the warehouse. As soon as the games arrive at the fulfillment center, they’ll be shipped to you as quick as possible.
For the sake of transparency, we also want to address the forthcoming closure of our fulfillment partner, Funagain Games. They announced earlier this month that they are closing operations. Current fulfillment orders will continue for the next few weeks.
So, what does this mean for us? Hair of the Dog is in the window to be fulfilled normally. Unless the customs clearance drags on exceedingly long, we should be unaffected. In the event we miss the cutoff, the games will be forwarded to our Seattle office and we’ll complete the fulfillment ourselves. While it’ll be more expensive on our end, no additional charges will be given to our backers. You already paid for the game and shipping; nothing will change that.
There are some medium-term consequences to us as a business. We’ll have to find a new distribution partner for continued retail sales for both this game and our previous titles. That’s not an impact backers should be concerned about, but since the philosophy of crowdfunding is about more than preordering games, I wanted to share this detail with the community.
Thanks again for sticking with us. Hopefully, the whole fulfillment will go quickly and we’ll soon be letting you know to start chasing mail trucks.
