Catalyst is what started it all for Cherry Picked Games. In retrospect, a long-form RPG with its own battle system, character systems, and setting was a tall order. It took years to design and playtest, and a lot of learning, but publishing Catalyst transformed us into a professional game studio. The unique card system is the prototype for all our games’ special player interactions. The juxtaposition of a serious world and absurd characters is the foundation for our style of in-game humor. Even after experiencing the apocalypse for nearly a decade, we still love rolling dice against demons.
